Clinical Placements For Trainee Therapists

Clinical Placements in Child & Adolescent Counselling – Cambridge

At Counselling with Madeleine, I offer a small number of carefully supported clinical placements for trainee therapists wishing to gain experience working therapeutically with children, adolescents, and young people.

This placement opportunity has been developed within a relational, ethically grounded private practice setting, offering trainees the opportunity to work with meaningful clinical presentations alongside ongoing support, supervision, and safeguarding oversight.

My practice is based in Girton, Cambridge, and works with children, adolescents, young adults, and families across Cambridge and the surrounding areas.

My Placement Ethos

I believe placements should feel containing, supportive, and clinically meaningful.

Many trainees enter placement feeling overwhelmed by the realities of therapeutic work with children and families. My aim is to offer a placement that balances both support and accountability, allowing trainees to develop safely and thoughtfully within practice.

The work within the practice is grounded in relationship, curiosity, reflection, safeguarding awareness, and respect for the individuality of every child and family.

Affordable Counselling Within The Practice

As part of the placement programme, the practice also offers a limited number of lower-cost counselling spaces for children, adolescents, and young people working with carefully selected trainee therapists.

All clinical work is supervised and overseen by Madeleine Gooding, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and Clinical Supervisor.

Location

Face-to-face sessions take place in Girton, Cambridge. Opportunities for online work may also be available depending on placement experience and suitability.
